Budget Coordinator Job Purpose
The Budget Coordinator will be responsible for compiling a credible and sustainable main and adjustments budget for the province. The role involves guiding and monitoring the efficient implementation of the budget through monthly in-year budget monitoring. This position is crucial for ensuring that the financial resources of the province are managed effectively and in accordance with legislative requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- A 3-year B-Degree/Advanced Diploma (or equivalent or higher qualification).
- At least 3 years of middle management experience.

Key Responsibilities
As a Budget Coordinator, your main duties will include:
- Coordinating the Main Budget (EPRE) Process:
- Planning and assessing budget submissions.
- Compiling the budget (printer’s proof).
- Drafting the Bill and tabling the main budget for the province.
- Coordinating the Adjustment (AEPE) Budget Process:
- Managing rollover applications and planning.
- Assessing budget submissions.
- Compiling the budget (printer’s proof).
- Drafting the Bill for adjustment budgets and tabling the AEPE for the province.
- Monitoring In-Year Budget Spending Performance:
- Analyzing and coordinating the budget spending performance of three departments/votes.
- Management of Staff:
- Leading a team to ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of budget processes.
Competencies and Skills Required
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial norms and standards, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Directives, and other relevant legislation.
- Understanding of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget process and procedures, as well as the Adjustments Estimate process.
- Familiarity with the Basic Accounting System and its structures, appropriation accounts, and the preparation of submissions to Accounting Officers, Ministers, Cabinet, and Treasury.
- Proven computer literacy, strong presentation skills, research, and econometric skills.
Remuneration Package:
The position offers an all-inclusive salary package of R 849,702 per annum. This package covers all costs related to service benefits or obligations, including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension fund contributions, and other benefits. The remuneration package is flexible and can be individually structured as prescribed.
