Job Description

Duties:In this position we are looking for a team player who is able to work effectively within a diverse community and create a positive for staff wellbeing while ensuring that performance targets are met. He will be expected to: · Provide leadership in developing distinct and relevant academic offerings with contextual awareness of the African continent and its place in the world. · Offer leadership over the academic delivery unit, and design and develop frameworks and school specific processes for the delivery of the academic project. · Provide strategic direction on curriculum development and reviews, and oversee the work of the teaching and learning committee and other structures that are responsible for academic programmes and research. · Define teaching and examination standards within the school as set by the university regulations. · Oversee the human resource allocation (yearly workloads) to ensure optimal engagement of academic staff. · Manage the finance and budgeting of the academic portfolio and oversee the implementation of the academic teaching and research strategy. · Facilitate academic staff continuous professional development as well as to proactively identify areas for improvement of academic quality and provide advice to the school on such matters. · Oversee ethical compliance and applications for students and staff research, and serve as the line manager for Academics. · The candidate will also be expected to undertake research and student supervision activities on a minimal basis. Qualifications: · PhD and 5+ years’ academic experience in a leadership position. · Passion for building and sustaining scholarship of the highest quality. · Substantial professional experience, management experience, a good record of teaching, research and administration. · Understanding of digital tools that are used in the academic environment, including learning management systems.
