Job Description

Job Summary Applications are invited for the above one-year contract position. This contract is renewable for a maximum of three years based on performance. To apply for this position you must be currently registered for and/or close to completing a PhD in the School of Animal, Plant & Environmental Sciences and supervised by an academic staff member within the School. Brief Description Minimum qualification / requirements: • Registered for and/or close to completing a PhD in the School • Experience in teaching assistant duties, both face to face and online • Excellent oral and written skills in English Key Performance Areas: • To assist in coordinating and delivering the practical sessions and give lectures as necessary face to face and/or online. • To assist with the coordination and teaching of the ADP (Academic Development Programme) tutorials for 1st year medical students. • Liaise with the lecturers on the requirements for ADP tutorials. • Attend the practical sessions as required to assist the lecturer with the teaching of the practical. In some cases give the pre-lab lectures. • Monitor the marks of the practical assignments and provide student feedback to the lecturer. • Be available to assist students with writing and computer skills. • To complete the PhD during this period and produce publications. • Participate in the Faculty Probation/Induction programmes. Consideration will be given to candidates doing a PhD in one or more of the following areas animal physiology, comparative animal anatomy, Plant EcoPhysiology and general ecology.
