Job Description

Associate Lecturer/ Lecturer qualifications and requirements: Minimum requirements: Associate Lecturer: Masters in Social Work or related field and working towards PhD registration (proof of PhD registration and progress in the PhD will be an advantage). Lecturer: PhD in Social Work or related field, Knowledge and (experience an advantage) in Social Policy and Social Development or Occupational Social work. Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions. Teaching experience (an added advantage). Proven research ability as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations or research reports. Demonstration of experience in academic administration would be to the candidate’s advantage. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be required to: To develop a skills manual for the undergraduate field instruction programme. To facilitate skills training workshops for undergraduate. To facilitate tutorials for the field instruction programme. To conduct field instruction assessments for the undergraduate course. Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Supervise Fourth-year and Master’s research students. Conduct research at a nationally and internationally competitive level. Participate in curriculum design and development of undergraduate modules as required. Conduct academic administration and other duties, as determined by the Head of Department. Participate in the Department’s strategic initiatives related to teaching, research, and community engagement. To participate in Departmental and school committees.
