Job Description

Brief Description The main purpose of this position is to ? together with a team of developers ? design/architect, develop, maintain and support information technology (IT) solutions (Calypso and other in-house developed solutions) to meet the business needs within the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Group. Detailed Description The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas: · Define own and others’ work plans using own discretion and in alignment with departmental and functional work plans. · Conduct analysis and design/architect quality IT solutions according to approved business requirements and in line with governance frameworks. · Ensure the delivery of quality IT solutions through development, integration, testing and deployment according to the approved design specification and within agreed timelines. · Ensure total quality of an IT solution by contributing to the compilation of standards, improved process and by ensuring that the approved processes and standards are followed. · Consistently provide IT solution maintenance and support in the designated area thereby ensuring business continuity, in line with the agreed service standards. · Keep abreast of developments of information and communications technology (ICT) trends and within specialised area of technology in order to develop and design the most appropriate IT solution within the area of responsibility. · Comply with the expected standards and procedures for the completion of the tasks/activities performed. · Actively participate, as a team member, and support the team towards the completion of goals. · Provide mentoring and coaching to team members. · Engage with the internal and external user community to ensure that business benefits are realized. Job Requirements To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of: · a Bachelor degree in IT (NQF7) or an equivalent qualification; · Java certification; · three to five years’ experience in Calypso-specific development (including solid experience on version 14 or later) and operations, which includes – knowledge of the Calypso architecture and deployment; – custom enhancements; – system settings; and – general Calypso maintenance – monitoring of logs, performance metrics, stop and start the application and deployment of changes; · three to five years’ experience in Calypso configuration (including solid experience on version 14 or later), which includes – workflow configuration, accounting, scheduled tasks, end-of-day; – booking of trades; – confirmation and settlement; · five to seven years’ experience in IT development at an analyst level; · five to seven years’ experience in programming and design in a Java JEE/J2EE environment; · five to seven years’ experience in programming and design of Oracle databases; and · five to seven years’ experience in JBoss Application Server. Additional requirements include · experience in development of data intensive applications across the web; · experience in the development of systems in a treasury environment; · experience in interfacing with SWIFT; · experience in coding to a middleware layer, including IBM WebSphere MQ and Messaging Broker; · be familiar with, and have experience in, the techniques required to secure an application against intrusion attacks, session spoofing and generally understand and have the ability to secure the application. – building trust; – client/service orientation; – decision-making; – verbal and written communication; – managing work/time management; – problem-solving and analysis; – contributing to team success; – relevant business knowledge.
