Job Description

REQUIREMENTS: National Senior Certificate, NQF Level 7 As recognized by SAQA in Disaster Management. 5-10 years’ experience in Senior Management in Disaster Management field. Valid Driver’s License. Competencies: Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (1996). Disaster Management Act No. 57 of 2002 (as amended). National Disaster Management Policy Framework GN654 of 2005. Provincial Disaster Management Policy Framework 2012. Fire Brigade Services Act No.99 of 1987 as amended. Applied strategic thinking. Interpersonal skills and conflict resolution. Ability to work in a team. Project management. Budget and financial management. DUTIES: Establish mechanisms that promote and maintain an integrated, coordinated and uniform approach to disaster risk management in the province. Conduct disaster risk assessments for the development and implementation of effective disaster risk management policies and plans in the province. Build and maintain resilient communities, environment and infrastructure in partnership with all stakeholders in relation to Disaster Risk Reduction in the Province. To develop and manage mechanisms for rapid and effective response to disasters and post disaster recovery and rehabilitation in the province. To maintain a provincial comprehensive information management system (IMS) and an integrated emergency communication network (ECN) which establishes 87 communication links with all disaster risk management role players and complies with national requirements. To monitor and evaluate compliance and implementation of disaster management legislation and related policies in the province. Monitor and oversee the development and implementation of a fire risk assessment and prevention and mitigation programs for the province.
