  • Offered Salary Remuneration: An all-inclusive negotiable package, which will be in accordance with the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The successful candidate will be appointed on a fixed term contract for a period of 5 years and such appointment will be at the Board’s sole discretion, taking into account factors that the Board considers relevant. The MER reserves the right not to make any appointment. The candidate will be subject to probity investigations and the signing of a performance employment contract.

Job Description

Requirements: A recognised Bachelor degree. A post graduate qualification with a strong emphasis in financial and commercial administration, complemented by a minimum of 10 years Executive experience, would be an advantage. The Key Performance Areas includes, inter alia, Human Capital Development and Leadership, Financial Controls, Budgetary Control and Management, Business Operations, Business Strategy (Corporate, Functional, Operational) and Corporate Governance. The Key Result Areas includes, inter alia, the following: Provide strategic leadership and direction towards the achievement of the MER’s vision, mission, strategy, goals and objectives; Ensure that the MER has a budget aligned to the organisation’s strategic plans and approved by the Board; Performance Management of the organisation to ensure that strategic objectives of the organisation are achieved; Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations, other applicable legislation and enforcement of the gambling and liquor laws and regulations; Ensure compliance to good corporate governance; Provide leadership and motivate staff to enhance engagement and foster a high-performance ethical team environment; Implementation of appropriate and sound accounting procedures and policies in accordance with Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP); Assessment of the risks of the MER and ensure that these risks are being monitored and managed properly; Recommend to and advise the Board on gambling and liquor related matters and ensure that the Board is kept informed of all activities and funds of the Regulator; and Maintain close liaison with national and other licensing authorities, including stakeholders of various industry representatives.
