Job Description

Minimum Requirements: All applicants must have a BScEng in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering. In addition, the following apply to each of the levels indicated below. Professor: • A PhD in an appropriate area • Experience in teaching at a tertiary institution • A recognized leader in the aerospace engineering specialization with an extensive and current research and publishing record in DoHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings • A successful post graduate supervision record at PhD and Masters level • A proven record of sourcing research funding • Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA • NRF rating • Management and leadership experience in an academic or research environment • Developed a network of research collaborations nationally and/or internationally • Experience in aerodynamics, flight dynamics and the systems engineering of aerospace vehicles Associate Professor: • A PhD in an appropriate area • Experience in either University teaching or relevant mentorship experience in an industrial or research environment • A current record of research in aerospace engineering as evidenced by publications in DoHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings • Successful post graduate supervision or extensive mentorship in an industrial or research environment • Demonstrated ability to attract external research funds • Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA or candidate registration and ability to apply for professional registration immediately • Experience in aerodynamics, flight dynamics and the systems engineering of aerospace vehicles Senior Lecturer: • A PhD in an appropriate area • Experience in University teaching and postgraduate supervision, or relevant mentorship in an industrial or research environment • A current record of research in aerospace engineering as evidenced by publications in DHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings • Successful post graduate supervision or extensive mentorship in an industrial or research environment • Demonstrated ability to attract external research funds • Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA or candidate registration and ability to apply for professional registration immediately • Experience in aerodynamics, flight dynamics and the systems engineering of aerospace vehicles
