Job Description

Key responsibilities include the following: · Responsible for overseeing the University vehicle fleet through integrated systems and administering compliance. · Monitoring of driver and vehicle assignments for research fieldtrips and adhoc operations. · Required to register as the University Representative at the Traffic and Licensing Department. · Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations and files paperwork in support of this compliance as needed at the Traffic and Licensing Department. · Analyse the fuel consumption reports, carbon footprint for the motor vehicles and calculations on the running costs of vehicles · Run reports to identify the vehicle’s base line health (mileage, year, vehicle costs outside of preventative maintenance and preventative maintenance). · Responsible to give technical and mechanical advice prior to maintenance on vehicle is carried out. · Review motor vehicle accident reports and submit the findings to the line-manager. · Conduct planned and unplanned inspections on the University Motor Vehicles from all campuses. · Understand University Health & Safety Policy, and Emergency Fire Procedures · Ensure safety hazards and risks are identified and reported to the operations Manager immediately · Participate in benchmarking of local and International trends, new products, marketing, etc. in order to recommend and implement processes that will promote service delivery · Coordinate relevant driver training, and conduct driving assessment and/or remedial training for new and existing drivers. Requirements: · Matric · National Diploma in Fleet/Logistics/Transportation Management or Equivalent Qualification Licenses · Valid Driver’s License EC1 (Code 11) · Professional Drivers’ License Required years of related experience · At least 3 years’ experience in Fleet/Logistics Management · Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Compliance and Fleet Management Technical Competencies · Advanced Computer Literacy (MS office) · Sound knowledge and understanding of Motor Vehicle Fleet preventative maintenance scheduling · Basic knowledge of heavy rigid vehicle and light vehicle mechanical deficiencies Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours) · Planning and Organizing Skills · Communication Skills · Problem-Solving Skills Compliance/Statutory Requirements (Knowledge, Understanding and or Training) · Occupational Health and Safety (OHS Act) · Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO Act) · National Road Traffic Act (NRTA) · National Land Transport Act (NLTA)
