Job Description

Key performance areas: • Develop and implement an integrated logistics management systems / strategies to support SAPO’s business strategy/objectives • Ensure the provision of space which are strategically situated to provide a service to clients according to service consumption. Provide leadership in the delivery of logistics services for all Post Office requirements. • Ensure the management and co-ordination of the company’s distribution network (road and air) on a national basis • Perform analysis of the overall budget/expenses for the logistics operation of SAPO and determine the most cost-effective and efficient means of transportation services • Directs logistics plans which ensures proper coordination to connect Post Office services across the board in an effort to maximise returns while providing strong support to operations in adherence to performance standards • Ensure that the logistics processes are streamlined nationally with a focus on ensuring a positive Customer experience • Negotiate pricing, driving improvements in supplier performance, evaluate all viable sources of supply with the goal of minimising costs and meeting budget constraints. • Provide leadership in determining and sustaining relationships with stakeholders in the property and logistics ecosystems. • Ensure the efficient management, control, compliance and reporting of the function / resources in accordance with the stipulations of the PFMA, fraud prevention and risk management principles, legislation, company policies and practices, processes, regulations, Corporate Governance, etc. Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Transport and Logistics Management (NQF 9) Experience: 10 years relevant of which 5 – 6 years on senior management level KNOWLEDGE • Warehouse safety, supply chain management, inventory control measures • Internal and external issues impacting on the transport and logistics environment of the organisation • Commercial awareness, including market and competitor analysis • Stakeholder management • Project management and change management • Operational systems • Financial management • Relevant statutes, rules and regulations • Statistical Analysis • Quality Management Systems (ISO standards) • Risk and compliance management Minimum Requirements Skills & Attributes SKILLS: Communication, presentation and selling; Conceptualisation and integration; Influencing and Negotiation; Decision making; Change agent; Analytical Thinking; Research; Ability to use cost benefit analysis techniques to determine proper application of suggested changes; Ability to plan and implement complex projects; Ability to analyse complex problem situations and design effective remedial solutions; Leadership; Strategic thinker; Project Management Planning, coordination & implementation; Accurate numerical computations, analytical and overall quantitativeCustomer and Client Orientation skills.
