Job Description

Key Performance Areas Activities / Objectives / Tasks 1. Project management Responsible for the management of a portfolio of 5-10 small/medium projects/grant awards and/or technologies to ensure conduct and delivery of the projects in line with approved timelines, milestones and budgets liaising with PIs and host institutions attend regular project meetings and document progress in projects raise and address matters regarding project activities and budget manage disbursements report back on project progress and status project monitoring and support – review technical and financial reports and make recommendations to management 2. RFA management and Strategic Project co-ordination Facilitate RFA’s, coordinating program budget, portfolio development, and reporting under the supervision of a program manager Assist in precision medicine think tank activities Facilitate activities for the EU-Africa PerMed Consortium strategic project under the supervision of the program manager. These activities include Maintain and update the stakeholder database for EU-Africa PerMed Consortium Write up reports aligned to the project activities and under the supervision of the programme manager Assist in research and gap analysis of the policy and precision medicine landscape of the African Region under the supervision of the programme manager Assist in survey development and administration of surveys across the African continent. Administrate /co-ordinate meetings, workshops and logistics Develop, update and maintain document archive on research from the PM landscaping analysis and consortium outputs Assist in drafting publications where necessary for dissemination of consortium outputs 3. Stakeholder liaison Co-ordinate stakeholder events, workshop or meetings or one on one engagements for the precision medicine program and EU-Africa PerMed Consortium Co-ordinate review meetings and set up working group meetings for EU-Africa PerMed Consortium Stakeholder Management of EU-Africa PerMed Consortium Dissemination of consortium outputs to stakeholders Draft letter of invite and manage/ co-ordinate high level meetings with leaders across the African continent Assist in coordinating travel arrangements for meetings held aligned to work package activities Promotion of SAMRC through appropriate forums (promotional materials, website, delivery of presentations on SAMRC, conferences, dissemination of information electronically, etc.) Core Requirements: 3 year relevant tertiary qualification in the science or management field At least two (2) years’ experience of proven project co-ordination or management skills, This is defined in the core key performance areas stipulated above. Demonstrated experience working in the grant administration environment managing or coordinating project portfolios Proven advanced excel, and database development Advantageous: Preferably hold a BSc Degree in the biomedical science, genetics, or related precision medicine science discipline Preferably show demonstrated experience in working across academia, government departments and industry Have a working knowledge of / background in omics/precision medicine research and product development
