Job Description

Qualifications: ? MSc in Computer Science (NQF Level 9) or equivalent. ? A PhD will be an added advantage. Experience: ? Minimum of two (2) years of lecturing experience at a tertiary institution. Proven ability to teach core Computer Science modules with good mathematical background at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. ? Proven evidence of conference papers; peer reviewed publications or any other acceptable outputs. Key Performance Areas: ? Offer tuition to undergraduate students, including supervision of BSc Honours projects ? Students’ performance management and administration: compile teaching material, conduct classes, assess and do administrative duties associated with Learning and Teaching. ? Liaise with other academic and non-academic units and external parties. ? Programme and course quality assurance. ? Plan and undertake research within niche areas of the department. ? Promote research and community partnership within the department. ? Active participation in departmental activities including performing departmental and faculty committee duties. ? Assist department in academic and administrative responsibilities. Skills and Competencies Required: ? Comprehensive understanding and experience in data structures, software engineering, artificial intelligence, database systems, cloud computing and operating systems. ? The candidate must be a patient, person-oriented individual who can interact with students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds in a manner that fosters their academic growth. ? Computer literacy and expertise in e-learning and online teaching platforms. ? Good lecturing and presentation skills. ? The ability to supervise research projects up to at least honours level. ? The ability to scaffold and effectively cascade the vision and mission of the University. ? Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ? Good interpersonal and conflict management skills. ? Leadership and teamwork skills. ? Good administrative skills.
