Job Description

Minimum requirements: Master’s degree, preferably in English, Communication, Linguistics, or Academic Literacy (experts in Education will also be considered) and working towards a doctoral degree Higher Education teaching experience of at least 5 years Computer literacy Competencies and Behavioural Attributes: Time management skills Ability to self-motivate Excellent inter-personal communication skills Good record-keeping skills Creativity and inventiveness Ability to work well in a team Flexibility and adaptability Problem-solving abilities Recommendations: Experience with university software programmes (e.g. MAMS, Blackboard) Experience in online and blended learning Ability to add worth to the department in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Ability to demonstrate and apply 21st century pedagogic skills Existing publication record Job description Lecturer in Applied Communicative Skills and Academic Literacy Responsibilities: Lecture students in communication skills at first-year level Set formative and summative assessment tasks, assignments, papers Evaluate and mark assessment opportunities Evaluate student performance and progress Carry out administration (e.g. collate and upload marks) Design and develop course materials Supervise tutors and manage tutorial activities Produce research outcomes (e.g. publications, academic degrees)
