Job Description

Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in translation or interpreting, studying towards a doctorate in translation or interpreting Higher Education teaching experience of at least 3 years Supervision experience at Master’s level Practical experience in translation and/or interpreting In-depth knowledge and experience of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools and interpreting technology Applicant should be well connected in the industry in order to organise our annual externship programme Competencies and Behavioural Attributes: Excellent command of English and any other language (African or foreign language) Computer literacy Experience in online and blended learning practices Experience in online learning platforms Recommendations: Doctoral degree in translation or interpreting Supervision experience at doctoral level Existing publication record Accredited by the South African Translators Institute for translation, editing, and/or simultaneous interpreting Job description: Lecturer in Applied Linguistics Responsibilities: Teach Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at undergraduate and honours level Develop applicable curricula and learning materials Supervise post-graduate students Provide academic support to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level Supervise tutors and manage tutorial activities Conduct research resulting in published accredited output and/or academic degrees Carry out administrative tasks Manage logistics related to externship programme
