Job Description

Minimum requirements: Minimum of a Masters degree in Education or a related field Specialisation in Isizulu at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level Competencies and Behavioural Attributes: Computer Literacy Excellent command of the field of primary school education Strong interpersonal relationships Analytical thinking and coordination skills Ability to facilitate learning through blended and technologically-based teaching methods Recommendations: A qualification and/or experience in teaching in the primary school and/or teacher education for the primary school A PhD qualification is preferable. Job description: The Faculty/Dept./Division Childhood Education at the University of Johannesburg offers undergraduate and post graduate degrees programmes. In the professional undergraduate programmes on the Soweto campus teachers qualify for posts in the foundation and intermediate phase of schooling. In addition to the class work, the undergraduate programme is extended by a practicum component where students spend time in a primary school that is associated with the university. Responsibilities: Teaching in the subject streams “IsiZulu for the Foundation and Intermediate Phase” as home language, first additional language and as conversational competence” in the undergraduate and post-graduate teacher education programmes Teaching in the module “Teaching Methodology and Practicum” in the undergraduate and post-graduate teacher education programmes Integrating content of the in these subject streams with the practicum focus on child development studies Research in IsiZulu language and literacy education in the primary school teacher education programme and/or Teaching methods in the primary school Community engagement in the area of IsiZulu Teaching Methodology and Practicum Administration of university teaching, research and community engagement in the portfolio of the position Post graduate supervision of students in areas related to the position
