Job Description

Qualifications: ? Master’s degree in Statistics (NQF Level 9) ? A PhD will be an added advantage Experience: ? Two (2) years lecturing experience in undergraduate courses at a tertiary institution. Ability to teach Statistics modules with strong computing and mathematical background at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. ? Proven ability of dissemination of research findings at national and international conferences. ? Proven evidence of at least one publication in peer-reviewed journals. Key Performance Areas: ? Offer tuition to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. ? Students’ performance management and administration: compile teaching material, conduct classes, assess and do administrative duties associated with teaching & Learning. ? Supervise students research projects at honours level. ? Liaise with other academic and non-academic units and external parties. ? Programme and course quality assurance. ? Plan and undertake research within niche areas of the department. ? Promote research and community partnership within the department. ? Active participation in departmental activities including performing departmental and faculty committee duties. Skills and Competencies Required: ? Candidate must be patient, person-oriented individual who can interact with students from various disadvantaged background in a manner that fosters their academic growth. ? Computer literacy and expertise in e-learning and online teaching platforms. ? Candidate must be able to use R, SAS and other well-known statistical software. ? Perform data analysis. ? Good lecturing and presentation skills. ? The ability to scaffold and effectively cascade the vision and mission of the University. ? Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ? Good interpersonal and conflict management skills. ? Leadership and teamwork skills. ? Good administrative skills.
