Job Description

Duties/Pligte Duties and responsibilities: Playing a lead role in the development and implementation of the Faculty’s transformation strategy in liaising with the Dean, Faculty Director and other role ?players; Assisting the Dean in devising and implementing a transformation strategy in FEMS; Participating in the Faculty Committee strategic planning sessions and annual departmental environmental plan discussions in order to provide a transformation lens on all strategic discussions; Assisting the Faculty leadership team in devising and monitoring KPAs for transformation in all work agreements where the SU Code for Management Practices requires this; Providing transformation coaching to the leadership team (deanery, departmental chairs); Fulfilling the role of the Employment Equity (EE) Manager (serving on all AAPCs, EE reporting, arranging for EE training, approving advertisements, collating EE feedback); Supporting and guiding EE representatives; Drafting the Faculty EE plan; Maintaining the EE database for the Faculty; Providing first-responder support in all discrimination and harassment cases within the Faculty; Ex officio membership of the Faculty Transformation Committee (FTC); Assisting in the formation and support of departmental transformation committees; Supporting the EMS Student Committee (EBSK) to ensure that transformation goals are central to their work; Assuming the overall responsibility for preparing FEMS inputs to the Transformation Office for the Annual Transformation Report; Providing support to academic environments for curriculum and pedagogical transformation; Identifying the need for transformation symposia and faculty-based platforms to share practices and learning; Working with the FEMS Student Affairs Coordinator and the Centre for Student Recruitment to enhance the FEMS student recruitment strategy and recruitment activities; Managing programme and project specific budgets linked to the portfolio. Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes : A postgraduate university qualification in a field broadly related to transformation, critical race theory, diversity, inclusion or organisational development; At least five years’ experience in the implementation of transformation strategies and/or programmes in practice; The ability to work with individuals at various levels of seniority; Proven ability to manage a financial budget; Proven experience in conflict resolution and change management; Thorough knowledge of the EEA and PEPUDA legislation; A good understanding of the transformation of higher education in context; Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to manage conflict; The ability to engage with a diversity of cultures and contexts, both within and outside the University; Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines; The ability to think ahead and to take initiative; The ability to act with integrity and to maintain confidentiality
