Minimum Requirements: Formal Chemical/Process Engineering qualifications (BSc Eng / B Eng / B Tech degree) 2 to 4 years applicable post qualification experience Preferred Qualifications and Experience include: Water industry experience Asset Management experience and/or qualification Project Management experience and/or qualification. Primary Duties: Perform a full range of varied and responsible process engineering work independently, requiring a high level of judgment and independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation, of standard techniques, and where required, devising new improved approaches to meet unique situations Involvement in work where no clear precedents exist, and which requires going beyond existing parameters and adaptation of plans to fit the situation Conduct, Document and Report on plant performance and condition assessments at times either independently or with other process asset engineers / asset assessors and/or larger multidisciplinary teams Translate findings from plant performance and condition assessments into recommendations for projects and/or maintenance/operational activities Undertake pre-project investigations, develop alternative solutions and prepare pre-project investigation reports either initiating projects or proposing other interventions Present Pre-Project Investigation Reports at Asset Management Committee meetings Assist in the development and implementation of asset lifecycle management strategies Assist in the development, compilation, execution and management of annual Asset Improvement Plans Participate in maintenance planning activities where required including Plant Criticality Analyses, Reliability Centred Maintenance, Planned Maintenance Optimisation and Root Cause Analyses Provide input for the updating of asset registers Review and participate in meetings related to project scopes, functional and detailed designs, hazard and operability studies in conjunction with the Design Office, site personnel and other stakeholders Assist / contribute towards the use of new technologies, technical advances and world class expertise for Process Assets, which may include attendance and participation at workshops, seminars, conferences Undertake technical investigations and provide technical advice/reports to the Process Asset Manager, on which Rand Water may base significant decisions. Knowledge: Water treatment processes, plant and equipment Process plant design Basic Asset Management Knowledge Basic Project Management Knowledge Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Management Systems General Management skills (Planning, leadership, organising, directing, controlling and motivating). Skills: Development of Design Standards Punctuality and accuracy in the execution of performance and condition assessments Technical Ability Communication (written and oral) Management and leadership including strong influencing and conflict resolution skills Strategic, analytical & problem solving skills Planning and organising.
