DUTIES: Conduct horticulture research, assessment, development and innovation Formulate proposals and compile reports on matters related to vegetable production in the Eastern Cape Develop and implement methodologies, policies, systems and procedures Provide scientific data, information and advice on vegetable production Perform scientific analysis and regulatory functions Present and publish the research findings. Ensure specialist advice, information, training and guidance by working directly with farmers in collaboration with extension officers and other stakeholders Liaise with relevant bodies/councils on science-related matters Evaluate, monitor and disseminate the data Mentor, train and develop candidate scientists and scientific technicians to promote skills/ knowledge transfer and adherence to sound scientific principles and code of practice Supervise scientific work and processes; and Manage the performance and development of candidate scientists and technicians.
