Job Description

The key performance areas are: Counselling: To offer students Short term, Individual and Group counselling ;Debriefing; and to provide case management ,crisis intervention as necessary Advocacy for mental health and wellness: To Design, co-ordinate and implement, training, facilitation and monitoring of holistic mental health and wellness advocacy programmes, within the required professional standards, for the student community. Provide student centered support and facilitate empowerment for Residence students through preventative initiatives; psycho-educative programmes; personal, social and community awareness. Training and mentoring of student peer mentors Supervision and training of social work interns and mental wellness peer advocates Monitor and evaluate advocacy and training programmes. REQUIREMENTS Honours Degree (Social Work or equivalent degree essential) Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) 3 – 5 years’ experience in counselling (short term individual and group) co-ordination, development and implementation of mental health and wellness advocacy programmes for student metal health and wellness . Excellent professional skills and experience to co-ordinate, organize and implement life skills workshops, programmes and presentations Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to liaise effectively and professionally, with a wide range of people e.g. colleagues, managers, scholars, students faculty staff, internally and outside the university Occasional after hours workshops/presentations on campus and in Residences Computer literacy Report writing, editing and researching skills. Experience in working in the above areas at a Higher Educational Institution would be an advantage
