Assistant Director: Regional & Local Economic Development Coordination (REF NO: ASD: R&LEDC)

Position Overview:
The DSBD is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director: Regional & Local Economic Development Coordination. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to enhance small business development support at the local and regional levels. The successful candidate will provide technical and administrative support during working groups, facilitate implementation of resolutions, and promote the role of local government in line with the District Development Model (DDM) and other relevant policies.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate qualification (NQF7) in Development Studies, Accounting Sciences, Agriculture & Environmental Sciences, Economic & Management Sciences, Human Sciences, Science, Public Administration, Engineering & Technology.
  • 3 years’ experience at a Functional Specialist level in a Regional and Local Economic Development Environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proven competencies in communication, planning and organizing, analytical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, client orientation, stakeholder relations, service delivery and innovation, networking, and project management.

Officer: Regional & Local Economic Development Coordination (REF NO: O RLEDC)

Position Overview:
The DSBD is also looking for Officers to join the Regional & Local Economic Development Coordination team. The role involves conducting research on the competitive advancement of small businesses and cooperatives, contributing to the development of policies and strategies, and providing access to business support for SMMEs and Cooperatives. Officers will also assist in monitoring and drafting progress reports, as well as offering general administrative and logistical support.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate qualification (NQF 7) in Business Commerce and Management Studies, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Human and Social Studies, Communication Studies, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Law, Agriculture, or related fields.
  • 3 years of administrative experience in Economic, Regional & Local Government environment/small business development environment.
    Training in MS Office Packages.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proven skills in communication, data analysis and collection, attention to detail, problem-solving, project management (basic), stakeholder engagement, and service delivery and innovation.
