Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: Grade 12 qualification.
- Security Certification:
- Grade B Security Officer Certification.
- Registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
- Grade A Certification (preferred).
- Additional Qualifications:
- Computer literacy, specifically in Microsoft Office.
- A valid driver’s license.
- First Aid Level 1 certification (preferred).
- Safety or emergency response training (desirable).
Experience Required
Applicants must have 2-3 years of relevant experience in the role of a security officer, ideally within a refinery, manufacturing plant, or mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Security Officers will be entrusted with a range of critical duties, including but not limited to:
- Conducting regular patrols of industrial and commercial premises to prevent intrusions and ensure doors, windows, and gates are secure.
- Responding to alarms and investigating disturbances.
- Managing rule infractions, apprehending violators, or evicting unauthorized individuals from the premises.
- Operating detection devices to screen individuals and prevent prohibited items from entering restricted areas.
- Inspecting and maintaining security systems and equipment to ensure proper functioning and detect evidence of tampering.
- Monitoring and authorizing entry and exit of employees, visitors, and others to prevent theft and unauthorized access.
- Regulating building systems such as air conditioning or heating controls.
- Recording, transcribing, and maintaining information electronically or in written form.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
- Ensuring compliance with COVID-19 safety regulations, including the screening of employees and visitors.
- Preserving order among visitors, employees, and patrons to protect property.
- Coordinating with police or fire departments during emergencies.
- Writing detailed reports on daily activities, equipment malfunctions, and unusual occurrences.
- Providing backup support to the receptionist, including answering and transferring calls.
