    Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) is offering exciting internship opportunities for young South African graduates through its 2025/27 Stats SA Internship Programme. This programme is a great chance for unemployed youth to gain workplace experience, grow their skills, and open the door to future employment opportunities.

    What is Stats SA and Why is this Internship Important?

    Stats SA is a government institution that collects, analyzes, and shares important information about South Africa’s economy and society. This data helps government departments, businesses, and communities make better decisions. Their work includes conducting censuses, surveys, and compiling reports on things like population, unemployment, inflation, and more.

    The Internship Programme offered by Stats SA allows graduates to work directly with experienced professionals, learn about the public service, and build a strong career foundation. This opportunity is especially important for graduates who have struggled to find employment.

    Stats SA Internship Programme Details

    • Duration: 24 Months (2 years)
    • Location: Head Office in Pretoria
    • Stipend: R94,326 per year (approximately R7,860.50 per month)
    • Closing Date: 30 April 2025

    Requirements

    • Must be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 35
    • Must be unemployed
    • Must not have taken part in any internship within the public service before
    • Must have a completed qualification (Diploma, Bachelor’s, Honours, or Master’s) in the relevant field

    11. Intern: Language Practice

    • Required Qualification: Language Practice, Linguistics, or a BA majoring in English and one of the official African languages

    How to Apply for the Stats SA Internship Programme

    1. Visit the Stats SA e-Recruitment website.
      • Please search “Stats SA Internship Application” in your browser to access the official application portal.
    2. Register and complete the online application form.
      • Ensure all fields are filled correctly, including the declaration section.
    3. Prepare the following documents:
      • Recent, detailed CV (include qualifications and experience with dates)
      • Certified copies of your ID, qualifications, and driver’s license if needed (certification not needed at application stage)
      • Clearly indicate the reference number of the internship you are applying for.
    4. Submit your application online before the closing date.

    Important Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you are shortlisted, you may be asked to submit certified documents before the interview. If you have foreign qualifications, include a SAQA evaluation certificate.
