Key Responsibilities
- Policy, Systems & Procedure Implementation
- Implement and enforce compliance procedures for NSFAS financial systems.
- Identify and address gaps in compliance with legislation, policy, and procedures.
- Core Strategic/Operational Objectives
- Manage funder setup processes, including defining dates, disbursement mapping, and allowance caps.
- Analyze academic results and funding lists for accuracy.
- Use SQL and Excel to resolve exceptions and analyze data.
- Handle duplicate registrations and adjustment exceptions.
- Oversee disbursement processes, including reconciliation and cancellation.
- People Management & Ethical Leadership
- Manage recruitment and selection processes, aligning with EE targets.
- Delegate tasks, mentor staff, and oversee performance management.
- Address disciplinary matters related to performance and conduct.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Relationships
- Serve as the primary contact for key stakeholders, including funders and academic institutions.
- Address stakeholder concerns and collaborate on process improvements.
- Represent the department in meetings and discussions.
- Project Management & Leadership
- Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and oversee relevant projects.
- Analyze project reports and recommend insights for future decisions.
- Budget Optimization
- Manage expenditures for Continuous Verification projects in line with the budget.
- Compliance Monitoring & Evaluation
- Provide oversight on Continuous Verification plans and risk controls.
- Support the Senior Manager in compliance monitoring reviews.
- Information & Knowledge Management
- Train staff on compliance issues and collaborate on data management systems.
- Develop presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Reporting & Accountability
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly reports on key performance indicators and stakeholder engagement.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum Requirements:
- NQF Level 7 qualification in commerce, information systems, or related fields.
- Driver’s License.
- Over 5 years of experience in financial systems (data analysis, disbursements, financial reporting).
- At least 2 years of experience in the education sector.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and intermediate MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and understanding of financial compliance.
- Preferred:
- Over 8 years of experience in financial systems and the education sector.
- Experience in data validation against external standards.
