    List of Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital Vacancies

    1. Head Clinical Unit (Anaesthesiology)

    • Reference No: HCU ANAESTH/1/2024
    • Department: Anaesthetics
    • Salary: R1 976 070 per annum (all-inclusive salary package excluding commuted overtime)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • FCA (SA) or M.Med in Anaesthesia
    • Registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist
    • Five years post-registration experience as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist
    • 2024-2025 HPCSA registration

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Managing the Anaesthetic department in a quaternary hospital setting.
    • Providing consultant cover in the theatre and after-hours.
    • Participating in the development of sub-specialty services and outreach programs.
    • Undertaking clinical research and supporting the academic training of junior staff.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong communication, leadership, and clinical skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of anaesthesia procedures, including ultrasound-guided regional blocks and complex airway management.
    • Experience in a tertiary environment and a track record of academic publications.

    2. Head Clinical Unit: Department of Paediatrics Pulmonology/ICU

    • Reference No: HCU PaedsPulm/1/2024
    • Department: Paediatrics Pulmonology/ICU
    • Salary: R1 976 070 per annum (all-inclusive salary package excluding commuted overtime)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • Registered Paediatrician with a Certificate in Paediatric Pulmonology
    • Five years post-registration experience in Paediatric Pulmonology

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Overseeing paediatric pulmonology and intensive care services.
    • Conducting ward rounds and managing high-care units.
    • Performing bronchoscopy and lung function tests.
    • Training fellows and postgraduate students in subspecialty care.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • High-level leadership and vision in developing paediatric critical care services.
    • Expertise in paediatric pulmonology and critical care procedures.

    3. Head Clinical Unit: Urology

    • Reference No: HCU URO/1/2024
    • Department: Urology
    • Salary: R1 976 070 per annum (all-inclusive salary package excluding commuted overtime)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • Registered Medical Specialist in Urology with the HPCSA
    • Five years post-registration experience in Urology

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Managing the Urology department, including clinics, ward rounds, and patient consultations.
    • Supervising postgraduate and undergraduate training.
    • Conducting relevant research and audits within the department.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong management and human resources skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of Urology procedures and patient care protocols.

    4. Medical Subspecialist (Rheumatology)

    • Reference No: SubSpec Rheum/1/2024
    • Department: Rheumatology
    • Salary: Grade 1: R1 472 673, Grade 2: R1 680 780, Grade 3: R1 835 835 per annum (all-inclusive salary package excluding commuted overtime)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • FCP(SA) and Certificate in Rheumatology
    • Registered as a Medical Specialist Physician and Medical Subspecialist in Rheumatology with the HPCSA

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assisting in the management of the Rheumatology unit.
    • Developing subspecialty services and managing inpatient and outpatient care.
    • Participating in clinical research and academic programs.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Sound clinical knowledge in Rheumatology and experience in managing subspecialty services.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

    5. Medical Specialist: Vascular or General Surgery

    • Reference No: MedSpecvascular/1/2024
    • Department: Vascular Surgery
    • Salary: Grade 1: R1 271 901, Grade 2: R1 451 214, Grade 3: R1 680 780 per annum (all-inclusive salary package excluding commuted overtime)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • Specialist qualification in General Surgery
    • Current registration with the HPCSA

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Providing vascular surgery services at IALCH and other Durban Metropolitan State Hospitals.
    • Managing clinical services and maintaining professional and ethical standards.
    • Training medical students and participating in research.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Extensive knowledge and experience in surgery, with a focus on vascular procedures.
    • Strong administrative and decision-making skills.

    6. Medical Specialist (Neurology)

    • Reference No: MedSec Neuro/1/2024
    • Department: Neurology
    • Salary: Grade 1: R1 271 901, Grade 2: R1 451 214, Grade 3: R1 680 780 per annum (all-inclusive salary package excluding commuted overtime)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • FCN (Neurology) qualification
    • Current registration as a Specialist in Neurology with the HPCSA

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Managing inpatients and outpatients in the Neurology department.
    • Training registrars, undergraduates, and postgraduate students.
    • Participating in outreach programs and clinical research.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of Neurology with experience in managing neurological disorders.
    • Strong teaching and research skills.

    7. Medical Specialist Oncology

    • Reference No: MedSpec Onco/1/2024
    • Department: Radiation Oncology
    • Salary: Grade 1: R1 271 901, Grade 2: R1 451 214, Grade 3: R1 680 780 per annum (all-inclusive salary package excluding commuted overtime)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • Registered as a Specialist Radiotherapy Oncologist with the HPCSA

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Providing holistic oncology care across the Ethekweni Oncology complex.
    • Participating in departmental academic sessions and postgraduate teaching.
    • Maintaining clinical, professional, and ethical standards in oncology care.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Expertise in managing oncological emergencies and complex cases.
    • Ability to contribute to community-oriented and outreach programs.

    8. Medical Officer (Anaesthetics)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • MBChB Degree
    • Registered with the HPCSA for Independent Practice
