    Administrator Job Description

    As an Administrator within the Income Section, you will be tasked with managing customer accounts, recovering overdue payments, and maintaining accurate financial records. If you have a knack for numbers and problem-solving, this role could be your chance to contribute to the financial stability and service delivery of the Harry Gwala District Municipality.

    Job Requirements

    To qualify for this position, you need to meet the following criteria:

    1. Educational Requirements:
      • A Grade 12/Matric certificate.
      • A three (3) year qualification (NQF Level 6) in Accounting, Financial Management, or a relevant field.
    2. Experience:
      • At least 1 – 2 years of experience in the income section, preferably within a municipal or governmental environment.
    3. Skills and Knowledge:
      • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
      • Knowledge of the SOLAR System (advantageous).
      • Strong understanding of financial management and credit control policies.
      • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
    4. Additional Requirements:
      • A valid driver’s licence to perform official duties that may require travel.

    Key Performance Areas

    In this role, you will be responsible for a range of tasks to support the municipality’s income section:

    • Account Management: Maintain accurate customer details and account records.
    • Debt Collection: Identify and recover overdue accounts, handle disputed accounts, and negotiate payment terms.
    • Reconciliation and Reporting: Undertake complex reconciliations and prepare documentation for legal action.
    • Customer Service: Regularly engage with consumers via phone, fax, and email to handle queries and resolve issues.
    • Administrative Duties: Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and balance with the financial system.
    • Policy Enforcement: Implement and update all council policies related to the income section and ensure compliance with credit control policies and by-laws.
