Auto Electrician Job Description
We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill 9 Auto Electrician positions. These roles are critical in maintaining mobile equipment and cranes to maximize their reliability and availability, ensuring that production goals are met.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and Supervision:
- Ensure learners under your supervision adhere to all relevant safety standards and procedures.
- Actively participate in SLAMs (Safety Leadership and Monitoring), HPHs (High Potential Hazards), relevant risk assessments, and close-out of safety actions.
Performance and Delivery:
- Maintain and test light motor vehicles, mobile cranes, or other relevant equipment/machinery to ensure functionality, safety, reliability, and availability within the specified timeframe and budgetary limits.
- Conduct inspections to identify potential failures and initiate repairs or notifications for repairs.
- Ensure adequate maintenance of HME (Heavy Mobile Equipment) / plant equipment to maximize production and throughput schedules.
- Identify and report defects, equipment failures, and time required for repairs to the Supervisor for decision-making and action planning.
- Execute work as per Operating Model standards and procedures.
- Complete and return job cards on time.
- Maintain tools and toolboxes in good condition.
- Ensure proper communication and handover of outstanding tasks between shifts and day-shift teams.
- Monitor maintenance progress and related preparation activities to meet operational targets, minimize downtime, and enhance equipment efficiency.
Assistance and Practices:
- Provide proactive advice on maintenance-related matters to all concerned parties, aligning with best practices and agreed-upon timeframes.
- Liaise with relevant personnel to arrange resources (equipment and people) for successful task execution.
- Assist the supervisor and co-workers according to their level/area of competence and follow company policies to achieve functional objectives.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical
- Qualified as an Artisan (Auto Electrician)
- South African Drivers Licence
- MV Certificate (advantageous)
Experience and Technical Knowledge
- 2 years’ operational experience.
- Knowledge of safety standards.
- Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
- Experience with PLC exposure and high and low voltage fault finding.
- Expertise in systems and technology, including H1 communication systems, Profibus systems, S7 PLC programming, optic fibre communication, and high voltage networks (11 kV).
- Understanding of lock-out procedures.
