Project Manager Job Description
As a Project Manager at SITA, you will manage both internal and external projects, ensuring they are delivered according to SITA’s project management methodology. You will work within a defined service/product/customer portfolio under the supervision of a Programme Manager/Senior Project Manager or Line Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve a broad range of project management activities, including:
- Initiating and Planning Projects: Effectively applying project management principles to kick-start and plan projects from inception.
- Managing Product Delivery: Ensuring that products are delivered successfully, meeting project goals and client expectations.
- Monitoring and Controlling Activities: Overseeing project activities to ensure they align with the agreed-upon budget, scope, time, and quality.
- Managing Costs and Revenue: Consolidating, monitoring, and controlling project costs and revenue, ensuring the project remains within the designated budget and profitability guidelines.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identifying and controlling risks and project issues to ensure smooth delivery.
- Project Closure: Closing projects according to company policy, ensuring all project documentation is complete and all objectives are met.
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Qualification: A 3-year National Diploma/Degree in a relevant discipline (NQF level 6).
- Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Prince 2 Practitioner/Foundation Certification
- Agile PM Practitioner/Foundation Certification (all certifications are highly advantageous)
- Experience:
- A minimum of 5-6 years’ experience in a project management environment, including at least 3 years in project management.
- At least 2 years of experience in a relevant discipline.
Technical Competencies
Candidates must possess the following technical skills and knowledge:
- Sector Knowledge: Understanding of public and private sector dynamics, ICT services, and information technology management.
- Project Management Methodologies: Familiarity with PMBOK, Agile PM, and Prince 2.
- Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Governance: Knowledge of PPM governance structures.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in MS Office, MS Projects, and other relevant project management tools.
