Requirements
- An appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Physicist.
- Current registration with a Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Physicist 2026).
- Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist.
- Inherent requirements of the Job: Willingness to work after hours.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Skills pertaining to the scope of the profession of Medical Physicist.
- Must be able to work independently and have the skills to complete projects on time.
- Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Duties
- Provide Medical Physics support to Radiation Oncology Department.
- Responsible for radiotherapy quality assurance programmes and radiation dosimetry.
- Ensure that equipment is safe, effective and working properly.
- Environmental monitoring to determine dose equivalent levels as required.
- Give scientific and technical advice about radiation doses, designing treatment plans and radiation protection.
- Acquisition of new radiotherapy equipment and maintenance of equipment.
- Provide radiation protection services and ensure regulatory compliance for the institution.
