Requirements

  • STD 10 or grade12 Certificate Appropriate qualification and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist.
  • Persons in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) (only when shortlisted).
  • Current registration as a Pharmacist with the SAPC.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Require: Knowledge of pharmacy information, relevant Government legislative and Department of Health Policies and procedures.
  • Computer literate, management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of District health system.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.

Duties

  • Manage and control distribution of medicine for inpatients, outpatients and clinics.
  • Monitor and evaluate the provision of quality pharmaceutical services including CCMDD.
  • Manage financial resources by maintaining accurate and appropriate records, statistics and information as required by management complying with applicable legislation and regulatory policies.
  • Manage human resource through supervision and support of staff by delegating, empowering, planning and execution.
  • Provide appropriate and adequate counselling to patients ensuring optimal pharmaco-therapeutic outcomes.
  • Have a sound control of stack management with high accuracy/ responsibility and accountability to PFMA and the allocated budget.
  • Have a sound knowledge of the six domains; public health, safe and rational use of medicines and devices and their supply, organisation and management skills, professional and personal practice, critical analysis and research.
