Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care accredited with the SANC (R48).
- OR A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-graduate Diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Primary Care Nursing.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- Experience: Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in the relevant speciality.
- Inherent requirement of the job: Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
- Willingness to work at other facilities within the Southern/Western Sub-Structure.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
- Communication skills (written and verbal).
Duties
- Assist with the provision of Comprehensive PHC clinical service to surrounding communities.
- Plan and implement Health Promotion and Prevention activities in facility and community as part of COPC.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Clinical governance as part of quality assurance.
- Information Management and timeous submission of reports and participation in facility audits.
- Assist with management of human resources and the development of staff.
