Requirements

  • An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification);
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience recognisable experience in Community Development after obtaining the required qualification;
  • A valid code B (or higher) driving licence.
  • NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.
  • Competencies: Knowledge of the following: Community development knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to engage in the social development of communities;
  • Understanding of human behaviour and social systems and legislation to assist with interventions at the points where people interact with their environments in order to promote selfempowerment;
  • The ability and competence to co-ordinate community development structures and ability to manage projects;
  • The ability to influence individuals and group to participate in their own self-empowerment ventures.
  • Skills in the following: Communication (Verbal and written);
  • Numeracy;
  • Computer Literacy;
  • Language skills;
  • Project Management;
  • Presentation skills;
  • Facilitation;
  • Research skills (information gathering and analyses);

  • Supervise and support Community Development Workers within the designated area;
  • Community Development Coordination;
  • Stakeholder and Intergovernmental Relations;
  • Service Delivery Monitoring and Governance;
  • Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation;
  • Managerial/Supervisory functions.
