Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dietician.
- Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dietician.
- Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of RSA qualified employees.
- 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of SA qualified employees.
- A Minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Dietician in respect of SA qualified employees.
- A minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work overtime.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Thorough knowledge and exposure to all aspects relating to clinical Dietetics.
- Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
- Skills should include computer literacy, facilitation, presentation and project coordination.
Duties
- Clinical nutrition management of in and out-patients in assigned area.
- Development of patient education materials.
- Development and updating of clinical nutrition protocols.
- Participate in in-service training and mentoring of all categories of personnel and students on nutrition related topics.
- General administration including assisting with planning, reporting activities conducted, and monitoring of nutritional programmes.
