Requirements
- Basic R425 qualification Degree/Diploma in General Nursing.
- Current registration with SANC as General Nurse.
- A minimum of 10-years appropriate / recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- At least 5 -years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognizable experience at management level.
- Additional Qualification: Diploma in Midwifery and Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration and Education Any Speciality in Nursing Experience of Managing Complex Nursing Environment Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Required: Knowledge of relevant legislative framework governing the public service.
- Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
- Possess communication skills for dealing with patients, and other members of the multidisciplinary team including the writing of reports.
- Good human relations displaying a concern for patients, promoting and advocating patients’ needs and expectations (Batho Pele).
- High concern for excellence, tenacity and resilience.
- Leadership and management skills.
- Problem analysis and decisionmaking skills.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and Financial policies and practices.
- Demonstrate basic computer literacy as a support tool to enhance service delivery.
- Ability to plan and organise own work, time and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care in the units.
- Be able to work under pressure.
Duties
- Provide guidance and leadership towards the realization of strategic goals and objectives of the nursing division.
- Provide professional, technical and management support for the provision of quality patient care through proper management of nursing care programs.
- Advocate and ensure the promotion of nursing ethos and professionalism.
- Develop and monitor the implementation of policies, programmes, regulations, practices, procedures and standards pertaining to nursing care.
- Represent Nursing Department in the Senior Management Team.
- Establish, maintain and participate in inter-professional and multi- disciplinary teamwork that promotes efficient and effective patient care across all domains.
- Ensure effective management, supervision and utilization of human and material resources.
- Ensure adherence to prescribed nursing policies and procedures.
- Supervise and ensure the provision of an effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care.
- Deal with disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Evaluate and monitor compliance with clinical protocols, norms and standards of the hospital.
- Participate in implementation and adherence to National Core Standards.
- Work effectively and amicably with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences.
