Requirements
- Applicants must be in a possession of a Grade 10 Certificate (NQF 3) A Minimum of Five (5) years driving and operating specialised equipment experience.
- Job Related Knowledge: Knowledge of operation of the equipment.
- Physical inspection of vehicles and interpret instruction for proper use of all controls for safe operation of vehicles.
- Planting and harvesting of crops.
- Interpret and follow operating manuals.
- Maintenance manuals and service charts.
- Job Related Skills: Operating a tractor.
- Operating specialised machinery such as a TLB, Bulldozer etc.
- Using of different implements.
- Road maintenance.
- Communication skills.
- Ability to read and write.
- Good eyesight.
- Teamwork.
- A Valid driver’s license Code EC and operating Certificate.
Duties
- Operates tractor with various implements to assist with physical execution of various general farming activities.
- Perform routine maintenance and preparations of vineyards, Orchards, nurseries and experimental site at PQS.
- Perform the implementation and equipment maintenance and administrative support.
- Ensure safe storage, cleaning and routine maintenance and repair of implements and equipment.
- Operate Specialised Machinery.
- Operation of specialised equipment such as boilers, pressurizers, autoclaves, tractors, brush cutters, mowers, spray pumps, and front-end loaders.
- Perform basic maintenance and repair of tractors, implements and equipment.
- Perform general technical support with pest control in quarantine facilities.
- Responsible for pesticide application according to recommendations from PQS.
- Assist with preparation and mixing of pesticides according to recommendations as well as manual spot spray application of pants in facilities.
