    Legal Aid South Africa is thrilled to announce its new initiative, the People with Disabilities Recruitment Programme, aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion within the organization.


    The program is designed to provide equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities and create a supportive work environment where everyone can thrive.

    About Legal Aid SA:

     As a public entity mandated by the Constitution, Legal Aid South Africa is dedicated to providing legal representation to those who cannot afford it. With a mission to ensure access to justice for all, the organization serves communities across South Africa, advocating for the rights of the most vulnerable.

    The programme details are as follows:

    The People with Disabilities Recruitment Programme aims to empower individuals with disabilities by offering meaningful employment opportunities within Legal Aid SA. The program aims to:

    • Foster a culture of inclusivity by actively recruiting individuals with disabilities, recognizing that diversity enriches the organization and enhances its ability to serve clients effectively.
    • Provide a supportive environment that respects and values employees with disabilities, offering reasonable accommodations and support to enable them to perform their roles to the best of their abilities.
    • Offer training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and career advancement of participants in the People with Disabilities Recruitment Programme, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to employee growth and development.

    • Legal Practitioner – Civil
    • Legal Practitioner – Civil Labour
    • Legal Practitioner – Civil Children
    • Legal Practitioner – RC (Criminal)
    • Legal Practitioner – Sexual Offences
    • Legal Practitioner – High Court Unit
    • Supervisory Legal Practitioner
    • Principal Legal Practitioner
    • Senior Litigators
    • Head of Office

    Auxiliary Services:  

    • Human Resources
    • Finance
    • Information Systems
    • Communications
    • National Operations
    • Internal Audit
    • Land Rights Management

    Program Structure:

    • Recruitment: LASA partners with organizations that provide support to people with disabilities to identify and recruit candidates with disabilities.
    • Assessment and Selection: Candidates are assessed and selected based on their skills, experience, and qualifications, without any bias or discrimination.
    • Support and Accommodations: Once employed, employees with disabilities receive support and accommodations to ensure their full participation and inclusion in the organization.

    Eligibility:

    • Candidates must be individuals with disabilities as defined by the South African Disability Act (2001).
    • Candidates must meet the minimum requirements for the job they are applying for.
    • Candidates must be willing to disclose their disability and provide necessary documentation.
