Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate three-year National Diploma or Degree in health sciences, social sciences, public health or equivalent.
- Experience: Appropriate experience analysing and reporting on large routine health services datasets.
- Inherent requirement of the job: Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to travel to the districts and nationally if required.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Leadership, managerial, organisational, strategic, operational and contingency planning skills.
- Decision-making and problemsolving skills.
- Knowledge of health services for HIV, TB, NCDs, maternal and child health conditions and related diseases.
- Ability to design and conduct epidemiologic and surveillance analyses using routine data.
- Excellent computer literacy skills, including high level skills in MS Excel and a statistical package such as Stata or R and ability to understand SQL code.
- Ability to work overtime / irregular hours.
Duties
- Conduct population health surveillance analyses that supports the strategic priorities of the Western Cape Department of Health.
- Report on Public Health Surveillance.
- Strengthen surveillance and epidemiological investigations.
- Support and evaluate public health interventions that could contribute to a reduction in the burden of disease.
- Capacity Development.
