Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: GETC/Grade 9 (Std 7).
- Experience: Appropriate experience in Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) within a hospital environment.
- Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work overtime when needed.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of decontamination, cleaning and packing and sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Understanding of infection prevention and control principles.
- Ability to cooperate sterilization equipment (e.g.
- Autoclaves, washer disinfectors).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Commitment to Batho Ple Principles.
Duties
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, pack and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment according to prescribed procedures.
- Ensure correct labelling, storage, distribution of sterile items and maintain accurate documentation and sterilization records.
- Receiving and sorting of Linen and Distribution and Stock control.
- Linnen control and processing clean linen and quality Control and Storage and Ensure cleanliness CCSD environment.
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety and Infection and prevention and Safety policies in CSSD.
- Adhering to Documentation and Communication protocols in CSSD.
