Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Practitioner.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
  • Experience: Grade 1: None after registration as Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA in respect of SA-qualified employees.
  • One (1) year’s relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreignqualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of Five (5) appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA-qualified employees.
  • A minimum of six (6) relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign-qualified employees, of whom required to perform community service required in South Africa.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of Ten (10) year’s appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA-qualified employees.
  • A minimum of eleven (11) year’s relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: Willing and able to work shifts.
  • Willing and able to work with patients with infectious diseases Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel.
  • Available and willing to participate in after-hours duties.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Appropriate experience in Psychiatry.
  • Excellent clinical consultation, management and procedural skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good professional attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well both in a team or as an individual.

Duties

  • Provide comprehensive medical and psychiatric care to patients by diagnosing and treating illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions.
  • Formulate and manage treatment plans, including medication and therapies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records both electronically and paper based.
  • Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare providers when necessary.
  • Complete the required CPD activities to maintain registration with the HPCSA.
  • Complete and submit required medical reports and documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
  • Uphold the reputation and integrity of the medical profession.
