Requirements
- A Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a psychologist in a relevant registration category, i.e., Clinical.
- A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate clinical experience as a Clinical Psychologist after community service and registration with the HPCSA as an independent clinical psychologist.
- The candidate must be able to provide and oversee the provision of psychological services and be adept at working with multi-disciplinary teams and using different therapeutic modalities.
- Must be experienced in the use and supervision of various psychometric assessments.
- Must be knowledgeable, skilled, and experienced in supervising intern psychologists, other psychologists, clinical and didactic teaching, the Mental Health Care Act, and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Must possess good communication skills and administration and leadership skills.
- Must be computer literate and in possession of a valid driver's license.
- Experience working in a Specialized Psychiatry Hospital or Specialized Psychiatry Unit will be an added advantage.
- Experience with any of the following will be an added advantage: Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Therapy.
Duties
- The candidate will be responsible for planning, managing and overseeing psychological services in the institution.
- Provide clinical services within one of the hospital's treatment units.
- The candidate will be a joint appointee with WITS within the Division of Psychology, Department of Psychiatry, WITS.
- Coordinate and participate in the training and supervision of psychology interns, junior psychologists, psychiatric registrars, medical students, nurses and other clinical support and therapeutic service personnel, in addition to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University.
- Involved in promoting, conducting and supervising research projects.
- The candidate will serve on the Extended Management Team of the organisation and participate in some of the hospital’s committees.
- Collaborate with various relevant external organisations and stakeholders.
