Requirements
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or equivalent.
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
- Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Experience Grade 1: Appropriate/Qualifications Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) After Registration with The South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) As A Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
- Experience None.
- Experience Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years' appropriate/recognisable experience as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) after registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
- Experience Grade 3: A minimum of 13 years' appropriate/recognisable experience as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) after registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
- Knowledge, Skills PUBLIC Training And Competencies Required: Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act and Good Pharmacy Practice.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation and policies.
- Understanding of medicine supply management.
- Knowledge of stock control systems.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Problem-solving and report-writing skills.
Duties
- Assist in the provision of an efficient pharmaceutical service under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Dispense medicines according to approved Standard Operating Procedures and within the scope of practice of a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
- Receive, store, issue and control pharmaceutical stock.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with stock ordering and stock rotation.
- Perform stock counts and assist with inventory management.
- Pack and distribute medicines to wards, clinics and departments.
- Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice and pharmaceutical legislation.
- Participate in quality improvement programmes and medicine management initiatives.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pharmacy and storage areas.
- Provide medicine information to healthcare professionals and patients within the scope of practice.
- Perform any other duties delegated by the Pharmacy Manager or supervising pharmacist.
