    Are you a young, ambitious South African citizen residing in KwaZulu-Natal? Are you eager to kickstart a career in agriculture, but lack the financial means or formal training to do so? The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) has an exciting opportunity that could be your gateway to a brighter future. The KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Learnership Program for 2024/2025 is here to equip you with valuable skills and knowledge while providing you with a monthly stipend to support your journey.


    About the KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Learnership

    The DARD Learnership Program is designed to empower unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 35. This initiative aims to address the high unemployment rate in the province by providing young people with the practical skills and qualifications needed to secure employment or start their own agricultural ventures. The program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and formal qualifications in the fields of Animal and Plant Production, ranging from NQF Level 2 to NQF Level 4.

    The learnership program offers several positions across various districts in KwaZulu-Natal. These positions are divided into different National Qualifications Framework (NQF) levels, catering to applicants with varying levels of education and experience.

    Requirements

    To be considered for this learnership program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    1. South African Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens residing in KwaZulu-Natal.
    2. Age: Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
    3. Education Requirements:
      • For NQF Level 2: Candidates must have completed AET Level 4/Standard 7/Grade 9 or Grade 10, or have completed and been deemed competent in NQF1/2 in Animal/Plant Production.
      • For NQF Level 3: Candidates must have completed and been deemed competent in NQF Level 3 in Animal/Plant Production.
      • For NQF Level 4: Candidates must have completed Grade 12/Standard 10 and passed English, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences. They should also have completed and been deemed competent in NQF Level 3 in Animal/Plant Production.

    How to Apply

    Interested candidates can obtain the application form from the DARD website www.dard.gov.za. It is important to complete the application in your own handwriting, ensuring that no spaces are left blank. The application form must be signed and dated by the applicant.

    • Certified copies of educational qualifications
    • Certified copy of ID
    • Affidavit indicating District/Local of residence

    Failure to submit a complete application will result in disqualification. Please note that preference will be given to applicants from previously disadvantaged groups and those living with disabilities.
