    Department of Human Settlements Vacancies

    Here is an overview of some key vacancies currently available within the Department of Human Settlements:

    1. Deputy Director: Special Investigations

    • Reference Number: DOHS/22/2025
    • Salary: R849,702 per annum (Level 11)
    • Location: Pretoria

    Key Responsibilities: The Deputy Director will be responsible for managing the detection, reporting, and intervention of corrupt activities within the Department and the human settlements sector. This includes coordinating the detection and analysis of fraud and corruption trends, supporting law enforcement agencies, and managing internal and external relationships related to anti-corruption efforts.

    Requirements:

    • Matric and an undergraduate qualification in Law, Policing, Forensic Investigations, Auditing, or Criminology (NQF 6/7).
    • 3-5 years of experience in management (Assistant Director).
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Public Finance Management Act and the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.
    • Proficiency in written and verbal communication and computer literacy.

    2. Parliament and Cabinet Support Officer

    • Reference Number: DOHS/23/2025
    • Salary: R849,702 per annum (Level 11)
    • Location: Pretoria

    Key Responsibilities: The Parliament and Cabinet Support Officer will monitor events in Parliament and Cabinet to identify issues relevant to the Minister’s portfolio. The position also involves managing the logistical coordination of movements between the Pretoria and Cape Town offices, providing an efficient support service to the executive authority.

    Requirements:

    • Matric and an undergraduate qualification in Public Administration or Management (NQF 6/7).
    • 3-5 years of experience in management (Assistant Director).
    • Knowledge of parliamentary and political processes in South Africa.
    • Strong planning, resource management, and communication skills.

    3. Administrative Support and Coordination Officer

    • Reference Number: DOHS/24/2024
    • Salary: R849,702 per annum (Level 11)
    • Location: Pretoria

    Key Responsibilities: This role involves managing administrative and coordination activities within the office of the executive authority. The officer will liaise with internal and external stakeholders and provide Cabinet/executive council support services to the executive authority.

    Requirements:

    • Matric and an undergraduate qualification in Public Administration or Management (NQF 6/7).
    • 3-5 years of experience in management (Assistant Director).
    • Strong communication, planning, and resource management skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel.

    General Requirements for All Positions

    The Department of Human Settlements requires applicants for all positions to meet the following general criteria:

    • Matric and a relevant undergraduate qualification.
    • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an entry-level management position.
    • Computer literacy and strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
    • A valid driver’s license is required for some positions.
    • Security clearance and qualification verification will be conducted for shortlisted candidates.
    • For foreign qualifications, applicants must have them evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).

    • Security Vetting: All shortlisted candidates will undergo security vetting as part of the recruitment process.
    • Nyukela Programme: Candidates applying for senior management roles must complete the Nyukela Programme (Pre-entry Certificate to Senior Management Services) before appointment. This course is available online via the National School of Government (NSG) website.
    • Remuneration: The Department offers an all-inclusive remuneration package consisting of a basic salary, the state’s contribution to the Government Employee’s Fund, and a flexible portion in terms of applicable rules.
