    List of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure Vacancies

    1. Chief Engineer: Electrical (Grade A)

    Location: Gqeberha Regional Office
    Salary: R1 200 426 per annum (all-inclusive salary package)
    Reference No: 2025/01

    Requirements:

    • An Engineering Degree (B Eng/BSc Engineering) or a relevant qualification.
    • At least 6 years of post-qualification experience as a Professional Engineer.
    • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer is compulsory.
    • Valid driver’s license and computer literacy.
    • Extensive knowledge of electrical engineering in the building and construction environment, along with project management skills.

    Duties:

    • Provide technical leadership in proposal preparation and execution.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of maintenance strategies.
    • Ensure optimal operational availability by setting engineering standards.
    • Mentor, train, and develop candidates and technical personnel.
    • Allocate, control, and monitor resources and expenditure.

    2. Chief Engineer: Mechanical (Grade A)

    Location: Cape Town Regional Office
    Salary: R1 200 426 per annum (all-inclusive salary package)

    Requirements:

    • An Engineering degree (B Eng/BSc Engineering) or a relevant qualification.
    • 6 years of post-qualification experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the building services environment.
    • Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
    • Valid driver’s license and extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
    • Ability to provide technical advice and undertake reviews and audits of engineering designs.

    Duties:

    • Manage the execution of maintenance strategies for mechanical systems.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of new engineering practices and methods.
    • Provide consulting services on engineering-related matters and minimize potential risks.
    • Manage and monitor project finances and resources.

    3. Chief Construction Project Manager (Grade A)

    Location: Cape Town Regional Office

    Requirements:

    • National Higher Diploma or B-Tech in Built Environment field.
    • Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience in construction project management.
    • Compulsory registration with the SACPCMP as a Professional Construction Project Manager.
    • Knowledge of project management, legal compliance, and quality control practices.

    Duties:

    • Monitor the performance of project managers and offer technical support to improve performance.
    • Coordinate with various professionals to ensure project delivery and quality.
    • Procure the services of built environment professionals through supply chain management processes.
    • Ensure that construction projects meet all technical specifications and standards.

    Requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a relevant qualification.
    • 6 years of post-qualification architectural experience.
    • Registration with SACAP as a professional Architect.
    • Knowledge of architectural design, principles, and building codes.
    • Proficiency in computer-aided design applications and advanced technical report writing.

    Duties:

    • Perform architectural design and analysis, including final reviews and audits.
    • Manage architectural strategies and systems for project execution.
    • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
    • Oversee the commercial value and performance of architecture-related projects.

    • Trade Test Certificate in Painting.
    • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and general tools and machinery in the workshop.
    • A valid driver’s license.

    Duties:

    • Maintain and refurbish Government buildings, including new work.
    • Prepare progress reports on projects and monitor Artisan assistants and learners.
    • Participate in expeditions, including Marion, Gough & Antarctica Islands and Robben Island.
