    Unemployment remains a significant challenge for young people in South Africa. To combat this, the Vaal University of Technology E-Skills CoLab, in collaboration with NEMISA, the Department of Communications & Digital Technologies, and the Limpopo Department of Social Development, is launching an exciting Cellphone Repair Training Program. This initiative aims to empower unemployed youth in Limpopo by equipping them with the skills and tools needed to repair and maintain cellphones, opening pathways to entrepreneurship and employment in the tech industry.

    What is the Cellphone Repair Training Program?

    The Cellphone Repair Training Program is a four-week course designed to provide practical, hands-on training for youth aged 18 to 35. Participants will learn how to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of mobile devices. The program includes:

    • A Tablet and Cellphone Repair Toolkit: Participants receive their own equipment to use during the course and beyond.
    • Business Registration Assistance: Guidance on registering a small business in the tech field.
    • Three Months of Mentoring and Coaching: Ongoing support to help participants successfully start or enhance their careers.

    • Start Date: 17 February 2025
    • Duration: 4 weeks
    • Class Mode: Face-to-Face
    • Location: Polokwane (specific venue to be announced)
    • Class Times: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30

    Eligibility Requirements

    To qualify for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Residency: Be a resident of any district in Limpopo.
    • Age: Be between 18 and 35 years old.
    • Unemployed: Have a valid South African ID and be currently unemployed.
    • Educational Requirements:
      • Grade 12 with at least 40% in Mathematics or 50% in Mathematical Literacy.
    • Pre-Assessment: Successfully complete and be deemed competent in the pre-assessment process.
