Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Electrical field.
  • Experience: Grade A: No experience required.
  • Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate/recognisable experience in an area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
  • Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate/recognisable experience in an area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
  • Inherent requirement of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) drivers’ licence and willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to be available after hours and perform standby duties.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to do fault finding and repairs to electrical equipment and installations.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 and its relevant regulations.

Duties

  • General maintenance and repair of electrical items such as lights, plugs, distribution boards, circuit breakers, motors and industrial equipment.
  • Manage the control of tools, equipment and stock.
  • Ability to maintain minor mechanical and electrical installation’s, fault finding, as well as all General Maintenance work.
  • Perform new installation work or expand existing electrical services.
  • Render assistance to the Artisan foreman and Chief artisan and effective supervision and training of subordinates.
  • The ability to perform basic duties and record-keeping of logbooks.
  • Maintenance on UPS systems and Generators.
  • Assist Artisan foreman and Chief Artisan in compiling of specifications for electrical projects and project coordination.
  • General substation maintenance.
