ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: PROGRAMME MONITORING is a South African government vacancy at Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). This job is part of Circular 15 of 2026 from the DPSA. centre: Pretoria REǪUIREMENTS : An appropriate diploma/ bachelor’s degree (NǪF Level 6) in Public Administration/Management, Project Management. A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ work experience at a supervisory level in project management. Knowledge and experience in assisting with the management of projects, portfolios of projects and/or programmes in the private or public sector. This junior management position in a core functional area requires a dynamic individual with leadership and people management capabilities. The candidate must be a strong communicator with the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders. Knowledge of legislative framework, Skills Development Act, Skills Development Levies Act, Public Service Act, Public Financial Management Act, and National Treasury Regulations. Further skills requirements relate to technical proficiency, monitoring, and evaluation, problem- solving and analysis, report writing, preparing presentations, marketing and communication, knowledge management, quality management, budgeting and financial management, human resource management, change management and negotiation. The incumbent must be client orientated, customer focused and be able to perform in a team environment. Good computer skills. Candidates must be willing to travel the country extensively and travel abroad occasionally, work irregular hours and be committed to meeting deadlines within tight timeframes.
