Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma or B.Bibl.
  • Degree/ B Tech (NQF Level 6) in Library and Information Science / Studies or Bachelor of Information Sciences with at least 1 to 2 years working experience in a Library and Information Service field.
  • Knowledge of public service legislation, policies, and prescripts.
  • Basic knowledge of library and information science procedures and processes.
  • Good computer, organising, communication, and report writing skills, excellent human, and interpersonal relations.
  • Sound knowledge of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of at least four Eastern Cape official languages will be an added advantage.
  • A valid driving license.

Duties

  • Conduct awareness campaigns, reading programmes and promotion of library use to all communities.
  • Conduct stock control of all library material.
  • Manage, receive and reconcile library material from the district office.
  • Attend to user needs.
  • Compile monthly user statistics and reports.
  • Participate in drafting of the business plan.
  • Manage library assets and resources.
  • Implement annual recovery of monies.
  • Establish and sustain library structures.
  • Manage mini-lib services.
  • Supervise staff.
