Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Practitioner.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
- Experience: Grade 1: None after registration as Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA in respect of SA-qualified employees.
- One (1) year’s relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreignqualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service as required in South Africa.
- Grade 2: A minimum of Five (5) appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA-qualified employees.
- A minimum of six (6) relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign-qualified employees, of whom required to perform community service required in South Africa.
- Grade 3: A minimum of Ten (10) year’s appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA-qualified employees.
- A minimum of eleven (11) year’s relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Willing and able to work shifts.
- Willing and able to work with patients with infectious diseases Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel.
- Available and willing to participate in after-hours duties.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Appropriate experience in Psychiatry.
- Excellent clinical consultation, management and procedural skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Good professional attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work well both in a team or as an individual.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive medical and psychiatric care to patients by diagnosing and treating illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions.
- Formulate and manage treatment plans, including medication and therapies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records both electronically and paper based.
- Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare providers when necessary.
- Complete the required CPD activities to maintain registration with the HPCSA.
- Complete and submit required medical reports and documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
- Uphold the reputation and integrity of the medical profession.
