Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Family Physician.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Medical Specialist in Family Medicine.
  • Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA (or a recognised foreign health professional council in respect of a foreign qualified employee) as a Medical Specialist, Family Physician.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA (or a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of a foreign qualified employee) as a Medical Specialist, Family Physician.
  • Inherent requirement of the job: Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB).
  • Willing to render Commuted Overtime duties at the Hospital.
  • Willingness to work at the PHC Clinics in the Sub-district.
  • Must be willing to do on-site second call overtime.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to work within and lead a multidisciplinary team to provide service delivery to clients in a Primary Health Care setting and on Hospital level.
  • Knowledge of Community Orientated Primary Care approach and ability to engage all relevant stakeholders in the Ecosystem.
  • Good communication, interpersonal relationships, exceptional leadership and conflict resolution skills and the ability to work in a high stress environment.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Duties

  • Clinical Governance and clinical guidance to facility managers at the Hospital and Clinics.
  • Clinical service provision and clinical managerial tasks with regards to medical and allied health staff.
  • Clinical service provision at Specialist level in Family Medicine, sub-speacial and Emergencies.
  • Training of students, community service staff, Medical Officers and Allied Health staff and appropriate research in Family Medicine.
  • Assist Manager: Medical Services with HR and financial resource management duties.
